During world war II, the mine produced manganese for used for fire arms. Then, Silver State mining company, leased the property to explore for silver. The mine was active well into the 1980's. After 2000, the sellers had the shafts surface closed and entrance filled in. FSR 451 is being converted to a special use permit only road and will not be open to the general public at some point in the future. At the time that this occurs, the owner would need to apply for a special use permit which the Forest Service would then process and issue. Buyer to verify what allowed/permitted uses will be with Park County.
